Pulmonology

The respiratory department undertakes the diagnostics and treatments for respiratory obstruction diseases (acute & chronic bronchitis, and pulmonary emphysema like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), bronchiectasia, interstitial pulmonary diseases, pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung cancer, pleura diseases (pleurisy, pneumothorax), diaphragm diseases and mediastinum diseases along with respiratory insufficiency syndrome and critical patient management. The most common symptoms of patients visiting the department are difficulty with breathing, coughing, hemoptysis and chest pain. In the case of the patient having difficulty with breathing, the department performs the pulmonary function test and exercise pulmonary function to identify the cause and degree of the patients symptoms. To identify other symptom causing lung cancer or tuberculosis, the department performs CT scanning and other radiation imagery along with endoscope bronchial tube inspection and needle insertion live biopsy. For diagnosing pleurisy, ultrasound, throacentesis and biopsy are applied to the patient. The department is providing various medication treatment for respiratory diseases and also performs endoscope treatments (thermal optic treatment, galvanocautery, balloon dilatation, metal tube insertion in respiratory tract) and operates the latest high tech repirator. To identify early stage lung cancer, the department is performing fluorescence endoscopy and molecular biological inspections.
