Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery
With the expansion of departments approved by the hospital's board of directors on 1978, the thoracic surgery opened on March 2nd, 1978. Before it founding, thoracic patients were treated at general surgeries and orthopedics and some were treated at internal medicine. In the 1990s, professor Cho Sung Rae was sent to Tokyo Women's Christian University Medical school as an exchange professor and was able to learn surgical methods for complicated cardiac diseases from the renown scholar, professor Imai. Within the department, on 1991 the first medical doctoral degree was given since the thoracic surgery department was found. The first receiver was professor Park Seong Dal and he currently works at the department. Other doctoral degree receivers are actively participating in the field of thoracic surgery in Busan and Southern part of Korea.
